What is Stage 3 Data?
Per a 2021 IQVIA report. stage 3 success rate is at an all time low due to lack of available data post covid. Stage 3 in clinical studies refers to the companion data phase where outside data is required to prove a studies hypothesis using the captured data in phases 1 and 2 of the study.
Challenges of Acquiring Stage 3 Data
This has historically been one of the most challenging parts of the study due to the lack of available data, as well lack of successful completion of phases 1 and 2. Stage 3 data can be provided and leveraged in the form of both retrospective and prospective data analysis.
What Happens After Stage 3?
Once a hypothesis is proven or disproven through a companion analysis conducted with the data in stage 3 of the study, the research institutions may now enter into phase 4 which is the results phase that is the final remaining step required in the study or trial process prior to receiving FDA approval and/or go-to-market.
