Latest posts by Medigap Agents (see all)

A Plan G Medicare Supplemental policy is essentially the same as a Plan F, other than the fact that the Part B deductible has to be paid before benefits go into affect.

Once the Part B deductible has been paid, you are required to pay the cost of medicare approved Part B services which is typically only 20%.

Medicare Supplement insurance: Plan G basic benefits

Medigap Plan G eliminates the exposure of excess charges that most Medigap plans do not cover.

What is covered with Medicare Supplement Plan G?

  • Limited foreign travel emergency medical care.
  • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) care coinsurance coverage.
  • First three pints of blood for a medical procedure.
  • Part B excess charges.
  • Part B coinsurance/copayment.
  • Part B preventive care coinsurance.
  • Part A deductible.
  • Part A hospice care coinsurance/copayment.

You should also be aware of the fact that most Medicare Supplemental plans do cover excess charges, the reason for that is because these excess charges are considered to be outside of the medicare approved charge.
