What is Ligandrol?

Ligandrol, or LGD 4033, is a selective androgen receptor modulator (or SARM). A SARM is a type of drug that binds to specific parts of the body. In this case, Ligandrol binds to the muscles and bones of the body, making them stronger. This is different from a standard anabolic steroid. Most steroids stimulate the entire body with an androgen like testosterone. This often has unintended negative consequences, such as increased aggression, increased acne, or liver damage.

Below is the Elite Health Online podcast discussing Ligandrol, how it works, and the risks involved.

How Ligandrol Works

LGD 4033 binds to specific receptors in the muscles and skeletal system and signal specific changes in the body. This is how the drug is able to increase muscle mass and healing. Ligandrol binds to these receptors and tells the body that more muscle mass or an increase in healing is needed.

How Safe is Ligandrol?

The first thing to know about LGD 4033 is that it has not yet been approved by the FDA for a human supplement. This means that it is not legal for anyone to sell Ligandrol as a supplement. That said, however, it is legal to sell and consume Ligandrol as a lab drug for purposes of testing and research.

One of the reasons the FDA has yet to approve the safety of Ligandrol is because we simply don’t know long term effects of the drug. There have been few longitudinal studies that demonstrate the benefits and risks of Ligandrol use. Because of this, the question of Ligandrol safety is a hotly debated one.

In the short term, however, it seems that Ligandrol might be a safe and effective option for those looking to bulk or even retain muscle mass through medical operations. While many standard steroids flood the body with an androgen like Testosterone, Ligandrol is safer because it is focused. There seem to be fewer short term risks to important organs like the heart or liver. Additionally, because less Ligandrol passes the blood-brain barrier, there is less aggression and anxiety produced by taking the drug.

There can still be smaller side effects when taking LGD 4033. While not explored in clinical trials, many users of Ligandrol report nausea, headaches, and occasionally, lowered testosterone.

Ligandrol is a banned athletic substance. Taking Ligandrol during an athletic season will produce a positive drug test and likely lead to disqualification.

Recommendation: Ligandrol Safe?

We are not your healthcare provider. We cannot recommend taking Ligandrol as any supplement or additive. If you are interested in Ligandrol for physical fitness, talk to your doctor.

If you decide to purchase Ligandrol, we recommend Elite Health Online for all your SARM needs. Many online stores might sell a tainted product or accidentally spoil their supply if they get it shipped in from overseas. LGD 4033 is a delicate chemical, and extreme changes caused by shipping might damage the product. Elite Health Online is based in the U.S. and will happily adjust to any concerns you might have about a questionable chemical shipment.
